THE BLACKFAST PROCESS
There are 4 main steps to the Blackfast
process with a rinse between each of:

Clean 5 – 20 minutes Dilutes 1 to 1
part Water – 50%

Condition 10 – 30 seconds Dilutes 1
to 9 parts Water – 10%
-
Blacken 15 – 60 seconds Dilutes 1 to
3 parts Water – 25%
-
Dewater/Protect 15 – 20 minutes Used
Straight – 100%
FACTS
-
Any
dangerous chemicals, namely Phosphoric
Acid & Sodium Hydroxide make up less
than one tenth of one percent of the
working baths. Cola Soft Drinks &
Beer, at pH’s of 2.7 and 4.1, are more
acidic than our two baths; conditioning
& blacking at 3.2 and 4.4
respectively.

Metals
make up less than one quarter of one
percent; namely Nickel, Copper &
Selenium.

Rinse
waters are neutral pH & contain less
than 0.028 ppms of the EPA controlled
Contaminants* to the drain.The strictest
new MP&M ruling allows 1.3 and 1.5
ppms.
